416. DEE, John. (CASAUBON, Meric Ed.): A True and Faithful Relation of What Passed for Many Years Between John Dee an Some Spirits. Glasgow: The Antonine Publishing Co. Ltd. and Portmeirion: The Golden Dragon Press, 1974. DELUXE FACSIMILE EDITION of the 1659 original, limited to 500 numbered copies signed by the publishers, this being number 56 (1000 copies of the standard edition in dust jacket also published) Folio (34 x 22 cm) bound by Atkinson's of Salisbury in full 17th Century style panelled calf leather, raised bands and gilt titles on red label to spine. In original green cloth slipcase, with printed paper design, reproducing the title page and frontispiece, pasted on (the same design used on the dust jacket for the standard edition) .An exact facsimile, reproducing the entire work including the frontispiece consisting of six portraits and three plates (one double) of The Holy Table, a Specimen of theTables or Book of Enoch and the Four Watchtowers and a brief overview of Dee's life and work added at the end by 'E. C. W.' dated January 1974. Some marking/soiling to the slipcase and a little blurring to the printed paper, but remains solid and undamaged and still shows well. A little rubbing to the joints of the book otherwise fine and clean internally. A carefully produced and printed facsimile, using specially made paper and beautifully bound.
